The TT-40 Library Droid is a relatively brand new droid on the market and is a product of the data-crunchers at Telbrintel, the droid is primarly an information retrieval system that has little capacity for data storage and no facilities for encyption. The droid is not mounted on a desk of behind a work station but is able to move on an antigravity repulsorlift and it sports a 360 degree data terminal. Most of the time the droid is typically installed in the center of a large open area so users can either type their search parameters directly into the droid or interact with the droid verbally.

The TT-40 contains three data wheels with extendable probes that mesh with a proprietary Telbrintel switchboard, and the over sized wheels usally spin in a blur of motion as they extend, retract, and spin from socket to socket, and they create an increadably fast link with their switchboard. The data devices are too specialized to plug into a standard scomp-link port, and twin cables support the computer interface from the ceiling and contain protected data-filaments that link the TT-40 with the central mainframe of a city or corporation.

The TT-40s are droids that excel at providing information quickly and accurately, and most of the typical search and retrieval operations it runs are for census figures, historical records, genealogical research, birth and death certificates, sales data, employee dossiers, profit/loss statments, and consumer survey results.

The TT-40 is expensive but usally they are subsidized by local goverments, or large businesses and the use of them is usally free of charge. Sometimes nominal fees are collected for particularly lengthy sessions or to draw data from restricted archives, and final search results can be delivered through the droid`s vocabulator, printed out on a flimsiplasst document, or downloaded into a user`s portable datapad.

The TT-40 is all business and it has no interest in other subjects than information retrieval and it can come accross as bruques and officious to those that don`t phrase their requests in proper bureaucratic patois. The Telbrintel corporation is conidering future upgrades to the droid, such as to add faster processing speed, but the punctillous personality is unlikely to change
