Foreign Intruder Defense Organism (FIDO)
The Foreign Intruder Defense Organism or FIDO is the brainchild of Admiral Ackbar and was brought to life by the top of the Mon Calamari scientists. The FIDO unit is designed to protect the entrances to bunkers, safe houses, or military installations. The main weapon of the droid besides its claw-tipped tenticles is surprise. If the droid is installed correctly it won`t be detected by enemies untill its too late, and within an instant the enemies will be seized by dozens of unbreakable durasteel cables and immobilized, tossed around, or torn to tiny bits. Admiral Ackbar was inspired by a sea creature from his homeworld for the FIDO, and he then designed and patterned the FIDO after the predatory krakana`s mouth tentacles.
The krakana`s each serpante like twist is capped with a razor-toothed pincer, and unlike the krakana the droids tentacles are cast from solid durasteel, and these apendages can even saw through transparisteel, and when they are propelled by a whipcracking tentacle they can punch straight through the armored hull of a Juggernaut assault vehicle. The FIDO droid is equipped with twenty-six cables total and each cable can be extended to a maximum length of one hundred meters, and these tentacles are the droid only weapons.
When attacked the tentacles on the droid seem to mimic a school of sharptoothed krakana, and the controller of the droid resembles that of an overfed krabbex. The droids eight-meter pod is sheathed in a thick plasteel shell, and the droids four jointed legs help to create the illusion of a massive crustacean. But these legs are not there to provide mobility, they are only there to anchor the unit firmly inplace once its strategic site has choosen.
The droid is designed and built with a sensitive long-range sensor and a state-of-the-art motion detector. While not in use the droids cables are coiled within the body cavity, and are unspooled through a central grid, and if for camouflage purposes the droid is buried the sensor and cable grid must be left partially uncovered. The FIDO`s conginitive module is quite sophisiticated, and is intellegent enough to be able to disinguish between friend and foe, and is well-versed in conventional battle tactics. Each of the droids tentacles is also equipped with protected sensors at each ends of the tentacle so the droid can change tactics if the fight is going badly in mid fight.
