The Imperial Mark IV Sentry Droid are the squealers of the electronic world, they are pesky and intrusive too. Violations from grand larceny to gratuitous littering, too murders and misdemeanors these droids will wisk away to the closest law officer to report.
These droids are not much more than a repulsorlift engine and a double-fist full of optical scanners. They hover above the ground at all times, and its repulsorlift engine allows the droid to reach a maximum ceilling height of 10 meters and it can generate very impressive short-term bursts of speed. The droids stearing nozzels are located at the rear and control the direction of the droid while its two stabilizer fins ensure a smooth flight. Sensor clusters at the front, rear, and top of the droid allow it to scan nearly all directions at once.
The Mark IV`s foward array of sensors is the most sophisticated of the sensors, and they are equipped with electronmagnetic and infared detectors in addition to its visual scanners. The droid is also built with minature macrobinoculars that have a built-in holorecording feature, that has a fifty-meter line-of-sight recording radius and have up to three hours of playback time. The droids broadband antenna/receiver communicates solely on coded Imperial alert frequencies.
The droids internal databanks are packed with historical data on law enforcement and the full text of the mamoth Imperial Legal Code. Then when these droids are assigned to a particular planet or city, the local constabulary uploads supplementary lists of regional statutes and topographical maps of the patrol area, and even sometimes if it fits the local law they equipp the droid with a low-power blaster. Very often these droids are used as intentional targets, scouting around corners and inside darkened warehoused so their stormtrooper owners don`t walk into an ambush.
The droids personality programming is at a minumal, but if not given regular memory wipes they can develop loopy, unexpected quirks. The Mark IV is not for sale to the general public, but is manufactured exclusively for the Imperial Military and pro-Imperial planetary goverments. This doesn`t stop criminals from nabbing these droids and reprogramming them even though tampering with an Imperial Sentry Droid is punishable by life at a hard-labor colony.
The droids transmit low-frequency transponder signals back to their base and if the signals are interrupted for any reason it is almost certain that it will attract attention.
